HAW201. From the classrooms to the workplace, to the airwaves, and once again in our very own homes, ke ola nei nō ka ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. And while the Pūnana Leo are a network of preschools, they are also the foundation of this growing aukahi, or movement, ensuring that our ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi will continue to thrive. A movement that started at a critical point in time back in the mid-eighties (c) 2015.

Lolena Nicholas, a mānaleo from Niʻihau, has dedicated her life to perpetuating ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. Throughout her 30+ year career, she has had a hand in teaching ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi to thousands of students. Students, staff, and families at Ke Kula Niʻihau O Kekaha, a state public charter school on Kauaʻi, celebrated the publishing of 75 hard covered books written in the Niʻihau dialect of the Hawaiian language.
